Choosing the VP

I am not a political guy. I rarely talk about it, outside of my work. But, today's announcement of Sarah Palin as McCain's VP was amazing.

The democratic party made many supporters upset by not naming Hillary the candidate, or even the VP nomination. Instead, they choose Joe Biden.

So... here is what happened (in at least my eyes): Obama named Biden his VP candidate because of all of the negative talk of he is "new to the scene." McCain got Palin because he was becoming known as "The Old White Dude." The republican camp got fresher, while the democrats became more experienced. Each party now has a "political minority" and will "create history" (first African American or first woman).

Here are the questions I have:

Will the announcement of Palin bring woman-support groups from the democrat side to the republican?
If Obama chose Hillary, would McCain have chosen Palin?
Was Biden (a long time politician) the correct choice for Obama, when his campaign theme is "Change?"

I have a feeling the next few months will be pretty interesting. I also have a feeling I am going to get sick of the question/accusation: "Would you say the same thing about a white man if they were running?" or "You are only saying that because you are racist/sexist."
